Duplin Environment Health Awareness Project (DEHAP)
DEHAP addresses health disparities of low income individuals and people of color who suffer from allergies, asthma, cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and depression in Duplin County, possibly resulting from exposure to odors and toxins from animal waste at nearby industrial hog operations, lagoons and spray fields.

Strategies include;
- Strengthening and cultivating partner relationships.
- Networking with researchers, the community and REACH.
- Developing Community Advisory Committee
- Sponsoring community education workshops.
Target outcomes include;
- Environmentally healthy and safe environment.
- Heightened community awareness and knowledge of impact of air and water on one's health.
- Stronger community relationships.
- Documented data on health patterns/preceptions of air and water quality and empowered and informed citizens.
